A few times in the Quran it talks about one of the "scary miracles" that Allah gave Moses as being him taking out his hand and it was white.
Is there something revealing in the Arabic wording (such as "glowing light a source of light") or was it just literally white? Does anyone know the origin of this "white hand miracle"?
well this "white" thing is used in Quran in different verses for different reasons dear TheRationalizer., SOme times you can take that as "Parable"
For e.g. you tell a Lie, and some one asks you about it, and your face becomes
"white" .. Which is same for e.g in this verse; I use only Shakir's translation
003.107: And as to those whose faces turn white, they shall be in Allah's mercy; in it they shall-abide.
Any way here are the verses that deals with that "white" thing in Quran..
: 037.046:White, delicious to those who drink.
035.027: Do you not see that Allah sends down water from the cloud, then We bring forth therewith fruits of various colors; and in the mountains are streaks, white and red, of various hues and (others) intensely black?
035.013: He causes the night to enter in upon the day, and He causes the day to enter in upon the night, and He has made subservient (to you) the sun and the moon; each one follows its course to an appointed time; this is Allah, your Lord, His is the kingdom; and those whom you call upon besides Him do not control a straw.
028.032: Enter your hand into the opening of your bosom, it will come forth white without evil, and draw your hand to yourself to ward off fear: so these two shall be two arguments from your Lord to Firon and his chiefs, surely they are a transgressing people.
027.012: And enter your hand into the opening of your bosom, it shall come forth white without evil; among nine signs to Firon and his people, surely they are a transgressing people.
026.033: And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers.
020.022: And press your hand to your side, it shall come out white without evil: another sign:
012.084: And he turned away from them, and said: O my sorrow for Yusuf! and his eyes became white on account of the grief, and he was a repressor (of grief).
007.108: And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it was white to the beholders.
003.107: And as to those whose faces turn white, they shall be in Allah's mercy; in it they shall-abide.
003.106: On the day when (some) faces shall turn white and (some) faces shall turn black; then as to those whose faces turn black: Did you disbelieve after your believing? Taste therefore the chastisement because you disbelieved.
002.187: It is made lawful to you to go into your wives on the night of the fast; they are an apparel for you and you are an apparel for them; Allah knew that you acted unfaithfully to yourselves, so He has turned to you (mercifully) and removed from you (this burden); so now be in contact with them and seek what Allah has ordained for you, and eat and drink until the whiteness of the day becomes distinct from the blackness of the night at dawn, then complete the fast till night, and have not contact with them while you keep to the mosques; these are the limits of Allah, so do not go near them. Thus does Allah make clear His communications for men that they may guard (against evil).
well those are the verses that contain the "
white".. As you can see one has to make out the meaning of the word and the statement with reference to the story that is coupled to verse and that is the reason Quran itself can not stand but some one has to write Tafsir to explain it.. look at the repetition in the underlined verses
