Jews and Arabs have been fighting each other long before Israel became a state. The riots throughout the 1920's and 30's prove that. Most of the fighting is religiously motivated as well as politically.
Most people here you are discussing the topic with know the history much better than you.
Yes, religion has always been an issue, but that doesn't mean if Islam goes away the problems between the Israelis and Palestinians go away. When the secular PLO was running the show it's not like the Israelis were like "Oh, okay, religious Muslims aren't in charge so we can work this out"-- in fact, long before the Oslo Accords, when Arafat was willing to negotiate a two-state deal (as early as the early 1970s), Israel not only refused to meet with his secret envoys, the Mossad assassinated them.
Oh, and you wanna take a stab at who your fellow Christians sided with during these rebellions against the British of which you speak? I'll give ya a hint, during the Arab Rebellion of 1936, flags with a cross & crescent a la hammer & sickle were quite popular.
Lets not forget the Hitler's Mufti
Let's not forget Lehi's attempts to negotiate a deal with the Nazis for an alliance against the British:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lehi_%28group%29#Contact_with_Nazi_authoritiesThat's right, there were Zionists trying to ally themselves with Hitler's regime. You ain't gonna win a historical debate on this topic here, Queen Isabel.
Politics and war makes for strange bedfellows. Many leaders of the IRA sided with Germany during WWII-- does that make the Irish pro-Nazi anti-Semites?
and the popularity of Mein Kamph in Palestine.
1. Since when? 2. You don't think you can find other bigoted, hateful books that are popular in Israel and the US? Like say...The Bible? Hell, Hitler didn't even explicitly call for genocide in
Mein Kampf, whereas God and his chosen people actively participated in it in the Bible.
