    I am boycotting the poll. None of the poll options apply to my opinion on the situation and the way the question is phrased itself forces the person taking the poll to subscribe to certain presuppositions which they may disagree with and may also be untrue.

    I dunno what the question even means.  Support its right to exist?  Support its current government? Its constitution? Its every action?  Its latest entry to the Eurovision Song Contest?  What do you mean by "support Israel""?

    It's a difficult issue to put into a poll format. The various political positions one could take on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are just too damn complex and varied. Probably just better to ask people their general position on the I-P situation/conflict and let them run with it, put it how they wanna put it, ya know?

    Imposed I'll give ya. Somewhat arbitrary, and perhaps even unjust/illegitimate, but I'd argue against fake or irrelevant. There is a real national identity people feel, some of it manufactured from the ruling class, and some of it organic, but no matter where its origin it's real enough. And given that we live in a nation-state system it is relevant to all of us.

    He means in truth. And I have to agree, I'd go as far and say I don't buy race or ethnicity. But that's irrelevant, I can think that and try to treat people that way. But I still have to respect and understand most people don't think like that.

    I agree that the vast majority of people find nation states relevant. That's why I included the "to me" disclaimer at the end.  Smiley

    I support its right to exist, don't support its government. Realistically, I know that Israel has existed for decades and destroying the state would beg the question of what kind of government or state that land would turn into next, perhaps conditions there could be twice as worse as they are now... Admittedly, I don't know much about the situation though.

This situation does not get resolved until one side wipes out the other or nationalism ceases to be the main way people organize themselves politically, and capitalism ceases to be the main way society is organized economically.

    Yeah I'm not saying this is what I think should be done now. I meant it more like if I had a magic stick that's what I would do. I'm fully aware that this considered utopia and I would be laughed out of any serious debate on the issue if I said we should adopt the one-state solution.

    I think the only feasible solution that the Palestinians would accept is 67 borders + right of return (i.e Camp David Deluxe). This is currently nearly impossible because of the settlers activities, the recent rise of religiosity among Jewish Israelis especially Mizrahis, the immigration of liberal Ashkenazis, the rise of far right parties such as Shas and Yisrael Beiteinu, a well as Hamas' idiocy.

    The first step is the empowerment of the secular PLO and immediate halting of any settler activity.

    I don't agree with the state of Israel's policies towards the Palestinians, but I support its right to exist.

    Ye, same here. The palestinians are suffering because of these disproportionate attacks and Hamas and other hardline Islamic parties are adding fuel to the fire.
