    Love for the place you call your home and the people does not imply that you feel comfortable with your country's identity.  I can understand you in a way.  My country is staunchly Roman Catholic and I'm at odds with many of its laws but like you I would happily bleed for it.  Still I have to acknowledge that I'm at odds some aspects of its current identity.

    Anyway I don't think that like Coundray you are trying to give a completely new identity to your country, changing its history, lingua franca and cultural background and everything.

    That is because unfortunately, everything the founding fathers wrote in good will seemed to have been stepped over and found a way around it.

    But that makes your constitution not universally morally good, and I guess that goes against the very point you wanted to make :S

    I beg to differ Thamina. We all have responsibility to condemn barbarity in every country. I am not part of American society or the Saudi society but I have the right condemn both of them, you do too. I have the right to condemn execution of apostates in Iran and an Iranian has the right to condemn the caste system in India. Similarly an American has the right to condemn beheading and stoning in Saudi Arabia and a Saudi has right to condemn the death penalty in America.

    The right to speak out against something you find offensive is fundamental and universal, matters not who you condemn or where you live.

    Not at all because, the word "Cruel" would be subjective. You may see it as cruel but the next person might not.

    Don't talk bollocks Thaminax.  There has been plenty of criticism on here of, for example, the death penalty, the treatment of gays in the US military.  If you want us to talk about US actions in Afghanistan, start a thread on it, instead of getting a chip on your shoulder just because its not discussed in a thread about Saudi.

    The reason why they never heard about it is coz it was never mentioned on ANY news channel (including al-jazeera) oh yeah I'm sure they would have complained-not.

    Please define what you mean by the "taliban" if you mean Mullah Omar and those fighting for control over afghanistan then fuck them I don't care. If you mean the ordinary afghan fighting for his homeland then yeah I support them.  As for what I said before about a pakistan proxy in afghanistan I've changed my views on that  Smiley
