The vote came as tens of thousands of secularists took anew to the streets to protest the parliamentary vote, reported Agence France-Presse (AFP).
"Turkey is secular and will remain secular," shouted the protestors, who packed a square in downtown Ankara, filling the main artery running through the heart of the city.
Television reports said there were as many as 200,000 people at the demonstration, dubbed the "Rally for Secularism and Independence".

If a manifestly revanchist shariaist government represents the "democratic will" of the Turkish people then all the more reason for not giving them the right to flood into Europe in unlimited numbers and gain what their overtly jihadist forebears failed to gain with centuries of expenditure of blood and (other peoples') treasure.
There is a war of ideas in Turkey.

The European Union can either sit this one out or try to direct the future course of the nation's history.
Perhaps we should on those grounds extend the definition of "Europe" to Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt etc etc and also allow them to join the EU.
