Does LFC have a mole inside Chelsea or something? 65 million odd for two players in the space of consecutive transfer windows, one a laughing stock, scoring one goal, the other a decent, at best, 28 year old.

    Good work, agent pickpocket.

Scouting, statistics and rice: the rise and fall of Arsène Wenger

In 1988 Arsene Wenger, then manager of Monaco, was tracking a young Liberian footballer who played in Cameroon. Each week the Frenchman received intriguing reports about George Weah. Finally Wenger sent a colleague to watch him, who phoned back after: “The bad news is, Weah broke an arm. The good news: he played anyway.”

    ....

Eventually he suffered the usual fate of brilliant pioneers: others copied him. Rival clubs replicated his international scouting, diets and statistics. Some also outspent him

^Good Article, HO. Thanks for that. Its the main reason why the board are reluctant to sack wenger. There is also another article that i read,i think AbuYunus might be interested to:

    http://www.arsenalnewsreview.co.uk/news/2201/30/Five-big-things-happened-at-Arsenal-this-summer/

There is a report that wenger wasnt involved in those recent transfers, it was the MD that got involved in it after the disappointing result, he was also responsible for bringing Asharvin to Arsenal, not Wenger.

The question remains if wenger is going to play them regularly in a first team or not.

it would be good to see Wenger forced to spend big money, see how he does handling players that come with a hefty price tag.

The identity of a top Premier League footballer who tested positive for cocaine will be revealed tonight.

He was later sold by his club in a multimillion pound deal but his new team were not told of the drug test, a TV investigation claims.

The star will be named by Channel 4 show Dispatches as it focuses on the use of recreational and performance-enhancing drugs in football.

The show claims to have discovered the identities of dozens of footballers who have failed drugs tests for cocaine and cannabis.

painful painful stuff. was 2-1 up against blackburn at half time. two own goals and blackburn now lead 4-2. i'm just glad i'm at work at not at home watching it. from what i've seen so far concrning new signings, arteta is doing well but even though mertsacker is a great defender i think he is struggling to keep up with premier league pace - he seems too slow at the moment, and without vermaelen in the team we're always going to ship goals.

I'm a united supporter - thought Chelsea played really well today, knew Torres would score against us, he likes playing against us. An amazing game, we went missing at times in central midfield, which has been our weakness for the last few seasons - sneijder would ahve been a good buy, would want him in january (but he will be cup-tied).

Chelsea deserved something from the game but like last season, we weren't at our best but still managed to get the three point. Added bonus - Man City lost a couple of points.

I don't mind Man City - think it is the team in the EPL with the most muslims lol

If it weren't us I'd rather they win it than

    a) Liverpool
    b) Arsenal
    c) Chelsea

Fenerbahce only allowed to admit women and children

The Turkish football association has come up with a radical solution for tackling hooliganism - by banning men from stadiums.

Teams sanctioned for unruly behaviour by fans are instead only allowed to admit women and children aged under 12 to watch games.

On Tuesday, more than 41,000 women and children attended Fenerbahce's match against Manisaspor in Istanbul.

The move followed violence during a Fenerbahce "friendly" in July.

The Istanbul side was initially told to play two home matches behind closed doors after fans invaded the pitch during a game with the Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk.

But the Turkish authorities later softened their stance and decided to let women and children attend.

Fenerbahce's 1-1 draw with Manisapor kicked off after players from both teams hurled flowers at the fans, while the visitors were greeted with applause instead of the more customary loud jeers.

The home side's captain, Alex de Sousa, said: "This memory will stay with me forever. It's not always that you see so many women and children in one game."

"We have to thank the ladies for coming to support us," his team-mate Joseph Yobo - on loan from Everton - told Lig TV. "It's difficult playing without the fans."

Manisaspor midfielder Omer Aysan agreed: "It was such a fun and pleasant atmosphere."

Before the game, fans were searched by all-women police officers.

Speaking before the match, Yasemin Mercil, a female member of Fenerbahce's executive board, said: "This really is a historic day.

"For the first time in the world, only women and children will watch a game. The women know all the chants. The same anthems, the same chants will be sung."

lol, i started supporting them because they won the 1977 FA cup, my first game of football, so yeah, initially glory but stuck with them through thick and mostly thin, whilst all other friends were Liverpool supporters, so I deserve a bit of payback.
