     OP - April 21, 2013, 10:42 AM

Hey guys if you're from a "henna culture" (people who know how to make/use it), can you please give me a good recipe for how to make it for hair?
There are SO many online I don't even know where to start, but if you have a simple little recipe that works, plz let me know.

    What I've tried so far:
-Mixing it with olive oil, lemon and honey and leaving it on low heat in the oven over night.
    -Putting tea in it

.Well wrong  additives Jila ...  Anyway people of the subcontinent use this henna leaves  for different purpose

1). for coloring their hands,  feet and face .. whatever..
    2) to cover grey hair
3). or for young girls like you  to make red streaks in the hair... lol..

Now henna has powerful  redox organic chemical "Quinones"  and it is water /polar solvent soluble chemical..  I am  going in to  some stupid ORGCHEM to you.. lol.

well any way , it depends on the purpose you are trying to use those henna leaves/powder .  Now tell me your purpose..lol.. 1 , 2 or 3??    Cheesy

BY THE WAY .. I AM NOT IN TO HENNA CULTURE.. But lot of people around me use henna.,  so don't mistake me for that.. lol..

go visit the page  http://www.puttisworld.com/2012/08/henna-theme-party.html to see how they color their hands/feet/legs/face ..lol.. but don't take recipe from that link.. I will tell you.. you got to pay me..

Where I'm from they mix the henna with yoghurt and eggs and then depending on how light you want it you add lemon. You let the mix sit there for half a day or so ((if you live in Australia, there's no need to heat it) ) then you apply it evenly and cover it with a plastic bag for 4-6 hours. I'm paranoid so I only wash the henna off after 8 hours. You can test a strand out and see how well it works first. Good luck!

JILA!  Do you have a "lush" store in your area?  I use their henna bricks (requires some prep)...but they work very well and are very conditioning.  You should try them

Make sure to have someone help you.  It is like working with liquid cement

Do not go gentle into that good night.
