...while "praying" (just for show for fam and friends) you are thinking about the quickest way to get out of the crowd when the group prayer ends and not pray the voluntary sunnas.

You realize you have a lot of useless Islamic trivia stored in your head, and find yourself explaining Islamic superstitions or rituals to your friends because something happens that reminds you of it.

Hmm, I don't do this, but did do it when a Muslim.

    Few more:

When you study a lot about religions/demographics/evolution.

When you shudder when being joined to pray or go to a mosque.

When you realize you've got to make the most of this one time in existence.

When you think back to Islamic teaching and life when young and that you were right all along about your gut instincts.

When at a Mosque you think "How can all these beings be so deluded?"

When you salaam for being respectful.

When you analyse (or over analyse!) how respectable news sources write about Islam.

When you think Douglas Murray rocks!!  Afro

This one is so true. I think the same thing when I see many coming out of congregation or when they are doing dawah.

How many of you know or notice this:

When u go to a muslim gathering and yet can easily find someone with very similar views as yours.

I mostly notice that a few people who remain quiet during islamic discussions or are cleverly vocal and ask brave rationalist questions are either people in doubt or complete apostates. At a family gathering this friend of my fathers and I got in to a discussion about how a local mosque was being built and he just went off on about imams and what not. in the heat of it he even told me that he thinks its all man made. I could not discuss with him further because there were a lot of people around.

I never found people like this when i was a muslim which makes sense.

So how many of you have ever noticed something like this ?

Once I was picking an old standing friend of my dads from the train station.  He was sat in the passenger seat, and he was talking about relgion. And then he turned round to me as I was driving and said, who knows if its really from God anyway.  I always thought he was a typical musalman.  I nearly carreered of the road Cheesy

I told him I was the same, and we both smiled.

You know you're an ex-muslim whennnnn:

    1. When you enjoy the wind in your hair more than you should

    2. when you can flirt without second-guessing yourself

    3. When you wanna laugh in your muslim friend's faces or at least tell them to wake the hell up.

    4. When you feel out-of-place within family/friends occaisonally

    5. When you want to get wasted really badly but convince yourself not to. Also that that decision isn't because of any lingering muslim feelings when it really is.

    6. When you wanna announce to the world that you aren't a muslim! Then you hit reality and enjoy the freedom within your mind and small circle.

    7. When your mother says not to call food gross beause these are the blessings of "Allah" you want to roll your eyes and scoff...then explain to her how the food ACTUALLY got there.

I lost a chance with a girl 'cause of God. We were really close and my friends thought we'd make a good couple. Her family's really religious and forced her to wear the hijab, but she wanted to show me her hair except kept making excuses, "My hair is messy today" or whatever. Anyway, suddenly she became really religious. So...:

You know you're an ex-Muslim when you try to make girls apostate just to get with them or (not gonna lie) fuck them.

I even asked about zawaaj muta (temporary marriage), 'cause she's Shiite. Cheesy

I have to admit I was once on the verge of going through with a Mutaa marriage. She was a 22-year old Shiite Bahraini divorcee (yes only 22 and had already been through a divorce) and we were both studying in Egypt. Her ex-husband was a total dick and her family felt guilty for marrying her to him at a young age so they decided to send her to Egypt to study and to forget about him.

She was a Hijabi but a liberal Muslim overall. We went out on some dates and on one night I was dropping her off at her apartment. So things got heated in my car and... well let's say there was some heavy petting. I should have acted like a gentleman and told her good night but instead I was like "hey you're no longer a Bikr so we don't need a witness or the approval of your Wali  Wink ".
After some hesitation -and some more touching and heavy petting- she agreed and said that she just needed to go up to her apartment to grab some underwear and stuff. Anyway, she went up and I waited more than 10 minutes until she called saying "look I think this is a bad idea. I know it's technically Halal but I'm still not comfortable. Besides we might get caught..." so I told her it was OK and good night but in reality I was crazy horny and utterly disappointed finmad finmad

     Cheesy

Also, it was an unprincipled move on my part as I was an atheist which wold have made it Haram for her to marry me Mutaa. But then again Robin Williams was right when he said "God gave us all a penis and a brain, but only enough blood to run one at a time".  Cheesy

Why didn't you tell her that she shouldn't question Allah's wisdom of the temporary marriage with her own limited human understanding and so she should go through with it?

and this is how you get moral people to do immoral things

So once again I'm left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?
