What makes you think I have never eaten raw meat before?

Anyhow isnt the meat tough & chewy,  just like taking a bite out of your own arm?

    I'm sorry I assumed

anyhow around here it is cut fine grain and seasoned so not chew and tough

I do eat blue meat sometimes but not that much you are right , medium rare might be the best to go with

Some chefs leave it as it is albeit running a naked candle flame under it. I've started to enjoy my meat more rare, it's juicy! Smiley

We opted against Jamie's Italian for anniversary dinner and went to Strada instead. Absolutely delicious. I forgot my camera so didn't take photo's but this is what we had:

Starters: I had Gnocchi alla Bava- Potato gnocchi in a Fontina Valdostana cheese, white wine & cream sauce with fresh oregano
    &
James' had Gamberoni- Sautéed king prawns, garlic, white wine, chilli & lemon butter with ciabatta.

The gnocchi was extremely yummy and light- no stodge. James enjoyed his prawns whole, pulling off the shell- they smelt very fresh and had a kick of chilli in the sauce they came with.

Mains: I had Saltimbocca di Maiale- Fillet of pork with sage and Parma ham with potato purée, green beans and a white wine, sage & butter sauce
    &
James had Rigatoni Speck e Gorgonzola- Gorgonzola, grana padano & cream sauce, finished with northern Italian smoked mountain ham and rocket.

The portions were generous. If i hadn't had a starter I would have been able to finish it- the pork was very tender. Delicious.

dance It's not the cheapest place to eat but definately worth it- you're going to be guaranteed yumminess.

Does any one has some nice Lasagne, Pasta, and Pizza recipes to share?  grin12

You can make pizza dough from scratch really easily. Combine strong bread flour with activated yeast (or fresh- about 1tsp), 1tbsp of olive oil and add hot water enough to bind the dough together. Knead until smooth. You can leave it for a while to get a thicker base but rolling it out @ 3 cm's comes out fine. Mix tomato puree, chopped garlic and basil together and layer the base (keep sides clear). Top with your favs and back at a high temp (220C /fan) for 10 minutes- should be done.

Yummy penne pasta with bolognese sauce-
1tbsp oil, 1 large onion finely sliced, lean mince meat broken up- fry together till meat has colour on it. Add salt, pepper, oregarno and basil, mix well, fry for 3 more mins. Crack open a tin of chopped tomato's/chop some fresh tomatos + tomato puree and add to meat mixture. Get a chunk of chorizo sausage, dice and add to mixture. Finely slice 1/4-1/2 red chilli (deseeded if you like) and add that too.Top with beef stock, bring to boil then simmer for 45/1hr. Make some pasta, when cooked transfer and mix into sauce well. Top with parmesan cheese and enjoy. Sides: garlic bread. You can make this easily by putting half slices along the side of a ciabatta or fresh french bagutte, combining butter and chopped garlic (melting alittle) and coating the cuts and all over. Bake for 10/15 minutes.

Ferrero, I am just curious, but how on earth can you afford all that food if you are on residence? I mean, pretty much every university student I know who lives on res is strapped for cash and eats kraft dinner and fast food lol.

It's one of James' favourite curries. I wasn't up for making chappati's but he begged  Cheesy Yes, i make them like that (the atta man remarked I was the only student he knew who bothered to buy a 10kg bag of chapatti flour Cheesy). Oh, there's a bit of butter in them too to make them soft(er) and I butter them when they come out the pan.

The cost is split in half and it isn't a lot, imo. I know students who have pizza delivered 3-4 times a week and that's more expensive than buying some good raw ingrediants and cooking for yourself.

It's a fruit juice concentrate syrup that you mix with water. It's completely junk food like any other juice concentrate, but its sooooooo delicious! You live in the GTA like me, CC, so you can find one in any middle eastern variety store! It's even better when you add ice cubes, and we have an awesome weather now! ...... OKAY, THAT'S IT! I can't take it anymore! I'm buying one FIRST THING TOMORROW!

Vimto is made from a secret recipe and made in my home town of Greater Manchester, and is mostly drank here.

To my surprise that  when I went to London, I couldnt find a shop nearby that stocked it.  So I struggled and dreamed about it until I could restock on my next trip up to Manchester..

They've even got vimto flavoured sweets here.   As a kid, I used to love making Ice Lollies out of it.

I'm gonna try this stuff soon. Its called Kvass. Its basically a Polish/Belorussian/Russian/Ukrainian drink made from yeast and sugar and stuff like that. Like liquid bread with fruit flavour.

Vimto is made from berries - my guess is Blackberrry, Blackcurrent & Sarsaparilla as the predominant flavours
