@ BD: Aaw... NO.   Tongue  My dream job would be to work in food; open up a little restuarant in the countryside and live the simple life.

It would be great to have a CEMB get together (with FOOD)

Tortilla wraps are really simple to make Smiley And they taste so much better!

That food looks amazing btw! I want a wrap now. I have some chicken. Don't really have any fresh veg though.

I can make chappati/roti relatively quickly and easily so I suppose tortilla's aren't much different with the rolling out/cooking stage. How do you do it?

Has anyone been to the MISSION grill place? It's a chain restaurant serving Mexican food.  When we first went there we thought it was a bit weird but the guacamole I made tastes exactly the same as they do it there. It's given us a craving to give it another chance. Afro

You use plain flour (I think my bf also mixed in some cornflour with it too), bit of oil, salt and water. Some recipes put in baking powder too, I've never tried it with that.

Then roll it out, flatten it and cook over a hot pan.

Sounds like heaven. I'd open up a gastro-pub. That would be my ideal life.

I went to a smart gastro-pub in Dartmouth Park in north London that had a massive bookshelf. You just walk in, choose a book, find a nice spot, kick back and read all afternoon, supping pint after pint. Dinner starts being served at 6:30.

Got to have old, comfortable sofas all over the place in the saloon too.

Play some Nina Simone if anything at all.

I had very little to eat  Cry

And I am feeling weeeeeeeeeeeak lol.

Guests were over yesterday and every single dish was non-vegetarian. I'm not even joking. The only thing I could eat was plain white rice, and today we're supposed to eat all the leftovers! Except I can't eat them. Then the fridge is empty (well, there's just nothing good in there) and my parents are taking someone to the airport and wont be grocery shopping till late. So i am starving. I have been starving for two days and it isn't funny!

Throw something together then, you shouldn't go without eating for ridiculously long hours your stomach will start digesting itself. Do you have fruit? Bread? Beans? Fries? Ketchup? Eggs? Pasta? Tomato's? Cheese?

C'mon, Eph. Snap out of it

If you want to make your own dietry choices then be prepared to take responsibility for feeding yourself. I refuse to believe there's absolutely nothing in the house you can eat. I've never been anywhere (various countries) where I couldn't sustain myself on a vegan diet, let alone lacto-ovo vegetarian - there's always raw fruit and veg at the very least. Besides, get cooking already!  Just do it

I'm just imagining how I would break up that rice castle-rampart. I think what I'd do is stick one of the spring onions on top, then drizzle loads of the gravy over it. Then at first I'd be all civilised and gently take a few pieces of rice on the spoon with some beef and sauce. But at a certain point I'd go fuckin wild with the spoon and mash it altogether yom nom nama nom!

So... venison was on the menu tonight. First time cooking and eating it and it was very delicious. I cooked it medium and made a gravy from the juices (for a lean meat there was a lot of juice!), red wine and dark chocolate. Served it with blanched spinach, thyme infused potatoes fried in butter with caramalised carrots and red onion:

It has its own flavour. At times I felt it tasted like liver but James didn't think so. The first mouthful takes getting used to but cooking it medium/rare is definately the best way to enjoy it imo. Tesco should do them. It can be quite dear at about £20/kilo.

    No joke.

My tongue, it longs for thyme infused potatoes fried in butter with caramalised carrots and red onion now.

I am alone in a desert, starving, crawling towards an oasis made of thyme infused potatoes fried in butter with caramalised carrots and red onion, with pools and springs meat juice chocolate and wine gravy.
