There is nothing healthy about a 11:30 pm meal but I try to get it down to 500 calories to reduce the guilt. Tonight I made Tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette) with sauteed peppers and cherry tomatoes.

I used 3 medium sized eggs and added a little bit of milk, soy sauce, salt, and ground pepper and then mixed very well. If you don't know how to roll it just watch this video. It's in Japanese but pretty self-explanatory:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z52CNYOWZRU

This has been a personal favorite of mine as of late. This time I added just a wee sprinkle of grated mozzarella with each layer. Sometimes I add finely chopped onions and/or finely chopped garlic. You can even add mince meat or a strip of ham with each layer.

And obviously I had to buy a rectangular frying pan. I ordered it from this website. That being said it is possible to cook ith a regular round pan but you won't get the same shape.

It was very yummy but I was disappointed with the texture. If you see the picture in the Wikipedia article or the video the omelette ended up as if it was one layer while as you can see in the cross section the layers in mine were distinct. Where do you think I might have gone wrong?

Thanks for making me hungry again. I better go grab a cucumber real fast to fill my stomach before I get tempted to eat biscuits!

Impossible since my stove is very even and so is the pan. In fact the liquid was distributed evenly. Also I added egg mixture 3 times (add some wait for it to get semi-solid, then add more and so on like in the video).

Also, how are the eggs in the video sooooo yellow?

Its a sign of healthy chickens and quality eggs - carotenoids give them a deep yellow colour, sometimes they have been fed on corn which promotes this lush colour.

Expensive as hell, but so bloody worth it lol. I order a half chicken, spicey rice and pitta most of the time, or a wrap instead of half chicken.

Talking about chicken... I want Dixy Chicken...

I made dinner for the family all by myself tonight. Mum was very impressed but as a typical Arab mother she couldn't help but remark "It's good to know how to cook good food as a student but that doesn't mean when you get married you should cook for wife very often. Do it once every week or 2 but never make a habit out of it".  Cheesy

I marinated the salmon in a marinade of vinegar, lemon squeeze, salt, pepper and curry powder for about 3 hours. Then oven grilled it for about 25 mins and added some chillies on top. I also made oven grilled potatoes. Just peeled raw potatoes, sliced them and added some pepper and flour (for crunch) and put them in the oven with the fish. Very tasty.
The veggies are ready cut from Tesco, I just stir fried them with olive oil.
Salad contains cucumber, tomato, parsley, onions, grated carrots. I also squeezed one lemon and added a touch of olive oil.

Tonight's dinner was far from healthy but it was very tasty.

I made king pao prawns&scallops (instead of chicken). Started with the cashews, then added some crushed garlic. Then the onions, prawns, and scallops. Then ground pepper, chilli powder, and 1/3 cup of soy sauce. Then added mushrooms, bell peppers. Lastly, added some steamed carrots and broccoli. Took me 25 minutes to cook in total (apart form the rice which my mum cooked). Highly recommend it and you can make it with chicken instead of prawns.  Afro

yes ferrero...  making some killer fried rice.  got the onions and garlic sauted,
got the scrambled eggs cooling to chop up, and some left over rib eye for the
meat in there.  now i just need to cook my japanese rice, and then off a tossin'
    i go lol.

made one of my favorite snacks last night.  chopped up some cucumbers,
added some soy sauce, vinagar, and a few drops of sesame seed oil, mix
it all up and leave in fridge for several hours or overnight.  great munchies!
can also add just a wee bit of sushi ginger.  Gives it a nice zing!
