    So can we have government officials tearing the face veil of women in public spaces? Can we have government officials walking around them and shouting at them for wearing it?

    @BlackDog : I think the French police will be most civil in their approach. Very uncomfortable part though, especially if they are tourists :-/

    You know, anyone could be under the burqa. There have been cases of men wearing the niqab/burqa in Iran and Saudi Arabia. And you would never know who it is! And it's wrong to question them because you know, that's just so offensive!

    New York has made a law stating a person cannot being wearing a ski mask or anything that covers your face due to safety violations. I think this would be a better law. It is worded better. After all, we're against any type of face covering.

    And thanks High Octane and others. Smiley I actually never listen to my own videos lol I just upload them. It's just weird hearing my own voice.

    So why can one get arrested or a fine for being naked in public? Isn't that freedom of speech? So why can't face-veiling of any kind be against the law?

    I agree being civil in this matter is very important. Because they don't want to come across as female oppressors do they? When somebody asks you to bend over it's always nice if they ask you politely Smiley

    ID cards. Places that require security checks sure, face must be shown.

    Ski-mask during winter makes sense. Ski-mask during summer, makes less sense. No reason why I can't wear one though. Unless I have to show ID which I would readily do. Same with niqabis.

    What's the problem with being naked?

    No seriously?

    Besides why do you have to take it to an extreme?

    If I want to walk naked I should be able to. My only concern is children and their parents, don't feel it's right flashing my balls in the face.

    What's the harm with a niqabi on the bus?

    If it's really cold, you wear it outside but when you're entering a bank, store, etc. you should take it off.

    Agreed. No issues there. I'm talking public space though. I mean it's like a niqabi sitting on a bench and me calling the cops to fine her or something. Because it's against the law to wear it. It's crazy.

    The craziest point is that niqabis are a minority. But this kind of shit, would make me want to go out and wear it as a man. I'd hate somebody telling me what to wear. I don't like the niqab don't get me wrong but I would have disliked this whole banning thing as a muslim, and felt it to be racist and religious prejudice. And now I still feel the same. I feel super uncomfortable with the whole idea.

    Fuck the state.

    So they will have to show their faces. In order to be ID:d for a probable cause. Whatever that is.

    Show face, done.

    Resume wearing it.

    + niqab is not mentioned anywhere in hadith or quran

    i dont know where these people get their ideas from

    What I can't believe is women that wore the niqab because they had the religious freedom to wear it and that are now supporting the banning of this attire in a PUBLIC space.

    What I can't believe is ex-muslims who had female relatives wear this niqab thanks to the religious freedoms we enjoy in this society now approve of banning personal attire in PUBLIC space.

    Niqabis are the minority but they are increasing. I was about to be one. I see many where my family lives. They are multiplying fast! The US is changing and if you allow this madness, you'll see your whole neighborhood changing. Where my family lived was normal. Now, it looks like Saudi. I see niqabis in the mall and Walmart. It looks scary to be honest.

    The niqab should be banned everywhere. It is a violation of human rights. Furthermore as I said in my video, it is not even in the qur'an so please don't tell me it is freedom of speech and we should respect your religion and this and that.

    If you allow one thing, they will ask for more and more. And then we'll wake up in the United Islamic States of Amrika.

    You know I grew up in Scandinavia right? The environment is pretty lax around these things.

    I guess you wouldn't for fear of sexual predators and molesters and so on.

    1. Only to those who feel violated. Some women want to wear and will see it as a violation of their personal right if you force them to remove it.

    2. Irrelevant. Discussion is not even about religion. It's a personal attire in a public space.

    3.  Emotional plea. Amreeka is the sort of country that has (constitutionally at least) room for niqabis. It allows you to be religious and allows you to be non-religious. You can't have the cake and eat it.

    Why?  Am I allowed to go in one wearing a gimp mask?  Then why should the niqabiyya?..  Going into shops and banks with your face covered tends to give the wrong signals and will create major security risks even the wearer has no criminal intent.

    Yes. It is only since last 5 or 6 years that Muslim women in Canada started to wear the face veil. Even the hijab was rare. Now you see more and more women wearing the hijab. I think hijab is ugly but the niqab and the burka are grotesque. It is extremely disconcerting to see a woman with a face veil.

    I believe that these women wear the face veil in order to make a statement of belligerence. It has nothing to do with modesty. Even hijab has nothing to do with modesty. Wearing of long sleeve loose fitting dress is more than modest. What is the reason for covering the hair? I am not turned on when I see woman's hair. I am not lusting after her. Something is wrong with Muslim psyche.

    Of course people should be allowed to walk around naked but as far as I am concerned businesses have the right to serve whoever they please and private property do not need to allow them entry.

    Anyone should be able to wear what they wish in public.
    I could give a f*ck if someone walked around decked out in Nazi uniform with Hitler on the T Shirt denying the holocaust. That is freedom and it says something to me about the weakness of a society if they cannot handle it and must ban it.
    And Government should never limit it. I've said it once and i'll say it again. The dangers to society are not Muslims, terrorists or not or anyone else. But fascists who support limiting Europe's hard won freedoms.

    For those who support any form of limitations on freedom of expression in public in Europe. I do hope they also support Muslim countries limiting other peoples freedoms in other countries. "Because Government has the right to do it"  Afro

    Where do you live? Because I'm pretty sure I could walk around outside all day wearing a Halloween mask and nobody would stop me (England).

    I feel exactly the same. Just because we hate the niqab doesn't mean we should be in favour of banning it.

    I'm getting tired of seeing the same old arguments.

    If they're going to refuse to take the niqab off temporarily then what makes you think they're not going to refuse to take it off permanently? Especially if we ascribe the same fine for not doing so.

    And it's not the state's role to make sure everybody is following their religion correctly, last I checked, so why does it matter whether the niqab really is an Islamic practice or a made up practice? The only thing that matters is that these Muslim women want to wear this piece of cloth across their face. They WANT to. The REASON why doesn't matter! She doesn't have to explain herself to you or anyone.
