I assume you don't like the amnesty, right? I think it's a fair idea, but the media has been spreading all sorts of misinformation about it. Here's what it's really about, straight from the horse's mouth:
That's all it is. People like Cameron make it sound as if all illegal immigrants would instantly get legal status the second they get here, which is pretty misleading.

The 10 year thing is exactly what I don't like. I voted for them regardless, I hope they don't get too lax over it though. Their pro-EU stance is more of a problem. I hate the EU. I want a fucking referendum! I want Switzerlands system where the people call a referendum when they want to, not the government!! It should be our choice!

I'm also not too fond of their views on abolishing the Trident. That is a really bad move.

I don't understand - do you think 10 years is too long or too short?

Their pro-EU stance is more of a problem. I hate the EU. I want a fucking referendum! I want Switzerlands system where the people call a referendum when they want to, not the government!! It should be our choice!

They've said they want an EU referendum so we can settle the matter as a country once and for all.

I'm also not too fond of their views on abolishing the Trident. That is a really bad move.

Maybe, but can we really afford more nukes at a time like this? Lots of great countries do just fine without them. Besides, anyone who threatens us will have NATO to deal with. We're well protected.

Labour said they'd have a referendum too.

Yeah, but then Labour suck... They're better than the Conservatives though, but that's not saying much.

First exit poll projects a hung parliament with the conservatives short of 19 seats for a majority.

I can't see anyone here liking the horseshit FPTP system, but then we do have 4 Tory voters, so...

Been watching Channel 4, saw the exits polls. Looks worrying. I'm gonna stay up all night to see how things turn out.

I like the preferential system where we each state the top 3 parties in preferential order. The maths sorts it out from there.

Although they could cosy up with Democratic Unionist Party instead of LDs if there are only a few seats in it

Well that's what I thought at first. But actually, is it worth the huge constituencies that would result from PR? And for what? Just because it is possible for a party to get less votes but more seats than another party? Something which in practice never happens anyway? What do you think to this phrase that sums up FPTP yet sounds reasonably democratic: "the party with the most vote wins". What's wrong with that?

Pardon my ignorance, 'cos I'm a teenager and politics is synonymous with 'bullshit' to me, but isn't one of the points of FPTP to stop extremist parties like the BNP from gaining too much power?

If it's even possible that the share of seats doesn't reflect the vote, then the system is flawed, and I can't endorse it. Look at the last election, where the Liberal Democrats got nearly a quarter of the vote, and yet only around 10% of seats. That isn't democracy.

Pardon my ignorance, 'cos I'm a teenager and politics is synonymous with 'bullshit' to me, but isn't one of the points of FPTP to stop extremist parties like the BNP from gaining too much power?

I've heard this one before; utter nonsense. It's essentially saying "too much democracy is a bad thing".

Well, isn't it? I mean I don't want to have too many referendums, but it would be more 'democratic'.

There's a difference between having superfluous referendums and wanting to reform an electoral system that holds back popular parties like the Lib Dems. All I want is fairness. How can we stand by and do nothing while it's possible for a party to get less than half the seats they deserve? A system like STV gives people what they want.

2 seats to Labour, and current swing (although premature) if repeated will give the Tories a landslide majority

Yeah I totally agree. If there IS support for the BNP, enough for them to get a seat in parliament then I say, please give them it! Why pretend the support isn't there? That's not going to make the problem go away. And let's be honest the British people didn't realize BNP was such a threat until they got 2 seat in European Parliament. Clearly, in the EU election, PR enhanced the proper function of a democracy - to discuss.

The only problem with PR for me is whether FPTP is really so bad that it should be changed to PR. Incorporating PR in the UK will be very hard I'd imagine because of how big you would have to make the constituencies.

3 seats for Labour so far.

Interestingly the BNP garnered about 5% of the vote in each one of those constituencies.

The average swing is about 8% towards Conservatives so far. If those results are repeated nationally, they will have a majority.
