    ?

I already answered these in this post:
    http://www.councilofexmuslims.com/index.php?topic=8395.msg208743#msg208743

And of course, I didn't tell anyone... why break the hearts of my family members (especially my mother, she would have been utterly devastated), and why stigmatize myself?... besides, I was more dissapointed in Islam, than disgusted by it... come to think of it, I might have never even left Islam.. I just stopped practicing it... I remember I couldn't curse Muhammed or the Quran or anything like that... *what if Quran were true* was always in the back of my head, I guess.

    ROFL

Please you need to tell us more.

My dad was a man of many contradictions. Really strict with his 5 daughters and wouldn't even let them go out.

I was a shy kid, and modeled my looks on Marc Bolan - and had posters of all my fav singers/bands.

He being old fashioned thought they were all gay and that I was turning gay.

He asked me if I had a girlfriend. I lied and said 'yes'. He then asked me if I had had sex with her. I said 'no'.

    He said 'come with me'

Took me to a bar where they all knew him. The waiter said 'your usual' and stuff like that. He said something like 'it's my son's first time' and stuffed money into his pocket.

Next thing I know two girls come to our table. Anyway we end up back at their place. They took me upstairs while he sat down stairs.  What followed was horrible - just horrible - I mean it was not enjoyable - I was so nervous and shy - and the stress just got worse - it was like I was on trail to prove I was a man to my dad.

My dad took me to a prostitute aged 16 as he was worried I might be gay - worst experience of my life!

Well we live in different times I guess.

btw is Marc Bolan like a weird twist on gender identity? Because I googled it and I can't really see what your dad was fussing about?

My dad was from a type of Egyptian that existed in King Farouk's time - they drank, had sex, were utterly irreligious - but still loyal to Islam in their own way.

    lol... it was TWO girls!

One was hard enough for a shy nervous boy - the second was excruciating - it took me ages - but if I didn't finish my life was over - or so I thought.

Hassan - In Naguib Mahfouz's The Cairo Trilogy, the father of the famile, Al-Sayyid Ahmad Abd al-Jawad, is exactly like that, he drinks and carouses with dancing girls and courtesans is a great bon viveur, has many lovers, and yet rules his home with absolute strictness and fear, his children and wife are scared of him. His youngest son trembles before him. And yet at night he becomes a Don Juan. Even though there is this hypocritical side of him, the way he is depicted is so fascinating, he has so much gusto, that you feel attracted to him, he is fascinating. I have never forgotten that character - when someone in a novel stays with you so many years after you read it, it is a real achievment. Your description of your father reminded me instantly of this.

Fascinating. And I was just kidding about you being a player and a pimp (although you are that anyway just for being who you are)

Funnily enough I read Russell Brand's autobiography and exactly the same thing happened to him when he was about fifteen. He was always estranged from his dad, then when he was a teenager he took him on holiday to Asia and paid for two hookers, one for himself, one for his son  wacko

I liked it, not my favorite but i liked it... I was immensely amused by one tiny scene in that movie.

I have a lot of favorite movies, but *Pride & Prejudice* (2005) is on the top....

*great expectations* is a favorite mvie of mine, but it didn't get good ratings because it was *different from the book*:

Of course, there's crash, sin city, etc.

As for music, my taste is very varied, but here's two examples:

I must say, the brutal and open honesty coming from Hassan and debunker is incredible.  Sorry for what happened to you Hassan.  It makes me feel my religious parents were in a completely different league.
The only thing I will say about myself is, I question everything these days, I mean everything.  And I look at everything from an evolutionary biology and evolutionary psychology point of view.  I wonder why people are so obsessed with sex and all.

I think sex is overrated - once you been at it like bunnies with your first proper partner, it never seems to scale those heights again once your in a long term relationship.

Most of the fun is in the chase.
