The England / US result was perfect for me as I was a bit torn and want both teams to advance. I watched it in the lobby of the service center when I was getting an oil change for my car. Fortunately they had 4 TVs so they allowed me to change one  of them to soccer instead of Baseball. Sadly, England did not look like a cup contender. They needed to come out and make a statement the way Germany did with Australia. But all credit goes to the greatest goalie and star of the game who was Howard. I think the US will advance. They have the IT factor.  I hope England does as well.

Ah, damn I miss the days when the World Cup was ruled by legendary football immortals such as Ronaldo (fat one) and Zidane.

Looking forward to Messi playing because most of the matches so far been lacking spark but I think that it's mostly due to them trying to get a 'feel' of the new ball variant that's been introduced.

It has been pretty lackluster. Fuckin Brazilians getting frustrated over little N. Korea. ROFL

For all the hype, Brazil have an ordinary midfield. Gilberto, Melo and Elano is hardly frightening - Spain, Holland and dare I say Germany and Italy all have better men in the middle.
Gerrard and Lampard were poor together, but put Barry in there too and I would say England have a better midfield too.

Brazil are reliant on Kaka and Robinho, perhaps too much.

Brazil get a goal finally. Perhaps they will relax now and live upto the hype by playing some actual football.

North Korea were rock hard in the 1st half. Brazil couldnt even trouble the goalkeeper. Second half it all happened when North Korea actually decided to start going forward, leaving space behind for Brazil to score both goals. Maicon's goal was insane!

But all in all, North Korea did not disappoint. Smiley

You cant get an opponent as tough as Brazil, and frankly Portugal has been far from impressive under Queiroz. They have a good defence, but even with Ronaldo up front their attack has been rather toothless far too often. I think I see North Korea getting at least 1 point in their remaining two matches. If they can maintain their defensive line and attack with their remaining players quickly I think Ivory Coast and Portugal both will be VERY worried.

Oh and did anyone notice how the Koreas would get fouled and still try to keep their balance and try to keep running? Even if the challenges made them fall, they would quickly get up and get on with it. Now that's honour.

I'm betting that Germany and the Netherlands will face each other in the finals, if its not Germany vs Brazil.  Argentina are in top shape as well.  England are making me as nervous as a transvestite druggie waiting for the HIV result when they play.  I don't think they'll survive quarter finals...

I really don't think England are going to go far in this tournament. Hope I'm wrong. I wanna see Gerrard playing just behind Rooney and Joe Cole in the mix. Beckenbauer is wrong to say we are just a kick and rush team. We do play it on the floor, but Heskey being there makes us structurally susceptible to the long ball out. Losing Ferdinand and King doesn't help because now we don't have central defenders who can confidently bring the ball up the park on the ground.

Anyway lets see, come on England!!

Portugal - Ivory Coast was such a dissapointing game.

Still waiting for the tournament to really ignite. I reckon getting past the first round of group games might do the trick, first games played cagey and tight to a certain extent because nobody wants to lose the first one.

    Some good match-ups tommorow too.

My friend reckons it will be Spain and Brazil in the final, what do y'all think?

Any of you willing to put a wager on which team you think is going to be in the final?

I got either Holland or Germany.
