    Mubarak's thugs have been pushed back by protesters, but the thugs have been storming hotels, beating up journalists and preventing food and water getting to protesters in Tahrir square attacking foreigners, buses, shops etc...

    Can anyone be in any doubt that Mubarak and his paid gang of criminals are not going to provide any sort of security and stability to Egypt.

    He must go now!

    I have to admit I am very proud of how the Egyptian people have put religion aside. I hope they keep moving forward.

    Mubarak is an old fogey, lost in a world he doesn't understand.  His underhand tactics may have allowed him to cling onto power back in 1995 or whenever.  But in 2011 it matters not how many journalists and protesters he intimidates, bribes, manipulates, or even kills, he is up against You Tube, twitter and facebook, hence everybody can see that this emporer has no clothes. 

    Somebody high up in the army should tell him to stand down now, or failing that, just put a bullet in his head.

    If Islam is creeping in the struggle, it is Mubarak's fault.  He is not the bulwark against Islamic fundamentalism any more, if he ever was.  At this stage, as people get more angry, more frightened, and begin to feel more powerless, it is becoming more likely that they will turn to religion.  The best thing he could do is exit the stage quickly.

    Yep, can't sell secularism to people getting screwed over, beaten, starved and killed by so-called secularists. First get the parasites out, feed and help the poor and starving, only then can anyone begin to think about talking ideology. You can't expect people getting crushed to only give a shit about ideology - they're going to go towards those helping them and away from those fucking them over. So would you and so would I, were we in that situation.

    Most Egyptian Muslims will stop for prayers - it doesn't mean they support the Muslim brotherhood or a theocracy. Most Egyptian Muslims simply want an accountable democratic govt.

    It really annoys me the way people conflate ordinary praying Muslims with Islamists.

    Muslims can be religious and pray etc... but it doesn't mean they would support a Theocracy.

    To think it does is to reveal ignorance of Muslims and in particular ignorance of Egyptians.

    Mubarak's behavior reminds me of my power-hungry, control-freak dad. He ruled with an iron fist for ages and then when the people finally revolted, he initially tried to crush the rebellion.  And when that failed, he waited to see if the rebellion runs out of steam.  When that failed, he offered to make slight concessions.  When that failed, he tried to make emotional appeals to the people.  When that failed, he tried to make life difficult for the rebellion through indirect means, hoping they will give up the fight and prefer to maintain the status quo for the sake of convenience.  But that angered people even more, just like it angered me. I wasn't going to let him win.
    When that failed, he tried to appeal to people's self-interest...
