Also unless your partner doesnt really like you and wants to kill you, i dont see why that victim would have sex with you or not even warn you about it.

Huh? STD's get passed around unknowingly all the time.

Where is that Huh? , coming from?

And its a figure of speech meaning why would one want to have sex with someone whom they are aware of contracting HPV. Tongue

    Do you find it immoral?

If so, why do you consider it as a bad thing aside from the pregnancy and STDs(i know some will bring that up but they can be prevented nowadays)

If not, whats the upside of it?.

Yup, this guy knows what he is doing by asking this bolded question in particular, so im no longer partaking any discussion relating to STDs and pregnancy which can drag me into a trivial semantic argument.

Well I think you're wrong to ignore him.  I agree with him, some STD's are not condom safe at all.

Herpes can be transmitted via skin shedding, somewhere you will come into contact with but won't be wearing a condom for.  This isn't about abstinence, it's just about facts.  Only someone foolish would put a condom on and think they are totally safe from stds.

I spend way too much time reading about stds because I am paranoid.  Really really fucking paranoid about them.

I get double and triple checked so often that my doctor just rolls his eyes when I come in convinced I'm about to die from some std.  Grin

I do this even when I am not in a sexual relationship because I am crazy.  Just really not right in the head.

So yea cato, rubber up but don't assume that is 100%, since it's not even advertised as being 100% safe.

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

Whoa, chill i wasnt implying that he was wrong on that aspect, he said that HPV freaks him out and i offered my suggestions on contraceptives which lynna replied to me that it doesnt work 100% which also is valid enough and i replied back to Strangestdude if that scares him enough to discourage him from engaging into promiscuity, then cool, its his choice. If you can find one of my posts where you think i fully disagree on the fact that STDs is real and risky then i will happily concede this argument

Coming from a place where STDs is rampant, i do check myself on a regular basis you know, so im aware of what i am facing, its not a new thing to me.

That is why we have contraceptives such as condom and other paraphernalia but if that is enough to discourage you then cool.

Anyway im still curious to know why Pureinertia made that statement.

    I was waiting for this exact answer to pop up and this is what the religionists uses to encourage abstinence on people until they find someone they can settle with and marry rather than focus on why it is ethically wrong. Of course nothing is wrong with settling down and marrying someone that is worth being with but i dont think its right to thrust this reason on people just to encourage abstinence mostly because(not that im assuming this is the direction you are heading towards to,probably you may have another reason);

-Its not everyone that is cut out for monogamous relationship and be a parent
-Its not only through sex that one can catch HIV and AIDS, one can get it even through barbing.

However, regarding STD i can acknowledge that being promiscous is like playing a russian roulette in this century but with contraceptives, chances of getting STDs and getting some pregnant are less same reason for one who doesnt smoke has a less risk of getting cancer but we have seen people who dont smoke getting cancer.

Anyway granted, that one is at the risk of exposing themselves to HPV,there are ways to prevent it by vaccination and a female condom can provide a greater protection than the male ones as it allows less skin contact plus we have microbicides if applied to the genitals prior to sexual contact.

Also unless your partner doesnt really like you and wants to kill you, i dont see why that victim would have sex with you or not even warn you about it.

I'm sorry, but all 3 of these posts seem to show you saying that because condoms and other stuff exist, anyone advising not to be promiscuous must be religionists who care about abstinence.

Also you have sort of maintained a stance of "yes but this is why we have condoms" until pressured to admit it isn't totally effective.

I mean this is your op right:

    Do you find it immoral?

If so, why do you consider it as a bad thing aside from the pregnancy and STDs(i know some will bring that up but they can be prevented nowadays)

If not, whats the upside of it?.

    some can some can't.

If I'm wrong about it then fair enough. but it did sound to met like you were trying to attack any suggestion that condoms aren't effective enough to keep you safe, as religionist abstinence bullshit.

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

I shouldnt have brought the abstinance factor which is way too irrelevant to my replies towards Lynna, i guess its because i got tired of this argument IRL that its beginning to irk me but still it was pointless to use it to defend my argument in the first place

I do practise abstinence for religious reasons. I however do not have that conversation with people who are not interested in it on à religious level. It also would not have been appropriate in our conversation  because it has absolutely nothing to do with STD's and fear.  Just for future reference. I'm not given over to hidden meaning or entrapping people. I just usually say what what point I want to make.

I'm sorry that you have felt...hummm....inflicted upon by other opinions but you know what they here as such right to it as you. And as far as world opinion goes it is a lot more accepted to be promiscuous then to practice abstinence. In movies, music, conversation and attitude it is more common for people to think sexual freedom of movement is okay. So perhaps for reasons I don't understand do to your world location  or self image you are experiencing more then the usual frustration. I hope you work things out with yourself.

I feel the same way in a sense. For the most part I find that I'm incredibly asexual, but when I see, what seems to be most people around me, with in the least sexually promiscuous tendencies I feel both confused and intrigued. For many of them, it can be a problem they actively have to deal with.

Sometimes I think there's a connection between thinking that it's wrong, as most of them do, and being attracted to doing it.

Im slightly promiscous not because i want to but because i dont have a choice. I cant afford to be in a relationship with a muslimah, Liberal Christian?, maybe but not in my area.Of course some have founded a way to be in a romantic relationship with "liberal muslimahs"and even marry like some of the members here but i wouldnt risk that or put myself hoping that i may find one.The chances of getting one is very, very slim and neither am i going to compromise. Hell no, i prefer to settle down with a woman who i can raise my kids with, free from religious influence.

So with this high sexual energy that i have in me before i rot while it lasted or fortunate enough to meet a secular woman, im left no choice but to indulge in occasional casual sex or one night stands with the loose types.Wanking and watching porno are not enough to satisfy my sexual urges...I need to feel the real stuff on my body and since i dont have to feel guilty for sinning why not give in to my carnal desires

So before i meet that special one whom i would propose to,exchange vows, sweep her feet off and rip the wedding gown off her body on our first night as a married couple,i think im gonna keep whipping and sticking it into variety of huhus when the opportunity presents itself to me.

    @ Cato

In your post you talked of other choices. It just seems that they were less suitable solutions for you. Which of course is your choice but just interesting you say you have no choice.

The thing I'm more interested in is your equality attitude.  This young woman you hope to meet some day to rip the wedding dress off of. If she has been sleeping around because of her high sexual energy are you going to find her as desirable if had not been with many defferent men?

If at first you succeed...try something harder.

Yes, whether she slept around with many men before we met or not, im still going to find her desirable infact i even find it offensive if people criticize single women that sleeps around,i see nothing wrong with that.

Judging someone on how much sex they have tells us more about you than it does them.

  • Re: Whats your view on Promiscuity?

What's wrong with judging certain type of people - we judge people who eat too much, drink too much - why not those who have sex too much (or more exactly sex with different partners)? I suppose if you looking for a one night stand/sex with no strings you need to judge that the person you are targeting is going to be open to the idea - logically you have a better chance with a person who likes having sex with different partners. If your mate falls in love with someone who shags around a lot - perhaps you might want to question his judgement (if he/she is looking for exclusivity).

I reckon it's okay (if you want to) to judge people who fall foul somewhat of the seven deadly sins.

I didn't say it's wrong to judge any 'type' of people. I said judging someone on how much sex they have tells us more about you than it does them.

    Would the same apply as

judging someone on how much they eat tells us more about you than them or judging someone how much they drink tells us more about you than them?

Though i can see where it applies , personally i think judging someone on where they shop for clothes tells us more about you than them.

The thing is people ARE judged on such matters whether we like it or not.  Not necessarily on how much sex they have but on how many different people they have it with.

It seems like a very easy concept to me.

Devilsadvkat gave a very good and easy to understand example. Person A is looking for a on night stand no strings attached. Person A sees Person B who is known to have been an exclusive relationship for 6 years and broke up and is now looking for another exclusive relationship.  Person A makes the judgement that Person B would likely not be a likely person to persistent a one nightstand with. So Person A sees Person C who is known to have had at least 30 one Nightstands in last month. Person A makes the judgement "ah no" that is a little bit to active for what I'm interested in. So Person A sees Person D knows that this persons had a couple one nightstands in the last month makes the judgment yes that is a person I'm interested in getting with. Person A judged the persons B, C and D on the ground of their known activity.  It was very reasonable for Person A to do this in fact it would have seen down right stupid and or offensive not to have. Think about it (especially if you are trouble thinking it is okay to judge people) what if person A would have approached Person B for a on nightstand knowing that there was no interest in that sort of activity. Gee that would be a social blunder. We make judgements about other peoples activities all the time. That doesn't mean we go into every detail of it with every one we meet. Nonetheless we make the judgmentl as part of deciding on all kinds of matters.

If at first you succeed...try something harder.
