     Hijab, abayas, shaylas, under shirts w/ long sleeves, closed-toed shoes, etc. My friends are super hardcore Jordanian Muslims with very little tolerance for Westernized ideas and fashion and such. They live here too, which makes the irony almost unbearable.

    Maybe thats true for everyone as a baby/small child, but I don't think the relationship is quite so straightforward as a kid starts getting older. Depends on the parents of course, but I've never got anything like that feeling growing up.

    It always depends on the parents of course, maybe god isn't the right word, but tyrant, controller, over lord, I see no difference.  I prayed for them, because they would beat the shit out of me if I didn't.

    As a teen they could not control me since I left home, but through that old belief in my god/parents, they controlled me somewhat through my desire to be accepted.

    As a grown up I reject them in full.

    But not everyone would have had that same experience, so yeah depends on the parents.

    yeah i was in syria for 7 weeks and I'm glad my grandmother doesnt know english. I know I sleep talk.

    Today me and this girl were talking about the differences in salat and by accident i blurted "i havent prayed in awhile". she didnt say anything though.

    and Im so fucking glad that skittles are now halal because I would be in so much shit because I eat non halal all the time without thinking about my surroundings
    I wish parents everywhere could remove their veil of religion and see their kids for whom they actually are.

    I didn't read it as a generalization. To me, it sounded like he was saying the Muslims doing it are "fucktards", not that Muslims in general are "fucktards".

    Islam is not homogeneous. A (ideologically, not just de facto) liberal Muslim follows liberal Islam. It's not that he/she halfheartedly follows orthodox Islam.

    I've known atheist Muslim Buddhists. Hypocritical/self-contradictory? Not necessarily.
