no, Messi is defo a christian - he always 'crosses himself' (i don't know the correct term) after scoring for barcelona in la liga.

Shit, I need to break the news to my Muslim friend then lol. We should see him 'cross' himself when he scores a goal in the WC.

lol i dno, google it. I said it's more speculation than anything else but one of my Muslim friends was going on about it on Facebook. I couldn't care less to be honest as long as he doesn't start praying on the pitch during the match.

Dont buy the bullshit spat out by stupid Muslim websites. They also claimed that Kaka converted to Islam after playing with Brazil in Kuwait a few years ago.

And yet he still wears the "I belong to Jesus" shirt under his jersey whenever he plays.  Roll Eyes

Shoulda been 3-2, Bob. That ref robbed the US of the goal.

    Game of the Tournament Smiley

Well-deserved point by USA. Slovenia had their chance but could not handle the pressure. Lucky to not lose it altogether, I still dont know why the ref blew the whistle just before Maurice Edu scored.

But a very good game. Slovenia now have to hold their nerve against England to go through.

No one does. The commentators where I'm watching couldn't find anything after watching the replay from several angles repeatedly.

That sack of shit ref straight up ROBBED the US of a goal and a win.

    fuck you

Should have been 3-2. The disallowed goal had at least 2 Slovenian players fouling US players, not the other way around.

Yup. That's one of the things I really don't like about this game-- the ref has WAY too much arbitrary power. Say what you will about American football, but there are a lot of mechanisms in place to make sure there is oversight and bad/arbitrary calls aren't made. In soccer, if the ref makes a shit call or decides to hand one team the game, there's really nothing anyone can do about it. And making that one guy the official time keeper with exclusive, unregulated/unmonitored control over how much injury time to add, gives him even more arbitrary power. No wonder people storm the fields in Latin America when the ref fucks up.

The ref in soccer is nothing but a dictator.

    fuck you

I agree with you q, it's a shame that the world of football hasn't maturely taken a look at video technology. Too much nonsense about tradition and the spirit of the game blinding everyone.
