Relating to the idea of pain and suffering is implausible Huh?

It is not a question of relating to pain and suffering, it is a question of relating to.  Are you telling me that you relate to a baboon the way you relate to your neighbour?

That's what it comes down to. It has the genetic make up of a human diploid cell. That's what decides whether killing it is ethical or not.

Does it have the potential to develop into a human?

Would having sex with a pregnant woman be considered rape?

Depends on what she thinks.  It has nothing to do with the argument

Not at all, I simply picked the earliest stage in which the individual is a separate entity and the time its life ends after full development and maturation.

It isnt a seperate entity in the womb. You might argue that it become self aware at some point in there, but certainly not at conception.

A human reaches a peak of full development and begins to decay long before it grows old.

Too fucking busy, and vice versa.

In certain ways, yes. Here you go with your arbitrary boundaries again.

    A seperate entity? Meaning?

    a new organism

It is not part of the mother's body just because it depends on her either.  It is still a different individual.  Even as a zygote

A proton alone is not going to develop into a human, the way a zygote in the mother's body does.

For one, the fact that half its chromosomes do not belong to the mother.

I didn't ask you what it can do and feel, I asked you how you can relate to it more than when you relate to your neighbour when he does those things too.

A zygote alone is not going to develop into a human.

Yes it is.  It has the instructions.  All it needs is the right environment which is provided by the mother's body.  Comparing the proton which is not alive and which has no instructions do reorganise and develop into anything is silly.

The half which got combined to the half of the gametes of the other partner.  Makes all the difference once they have formed the diploid number. There you have a new organism

But you've already said you don't mind killing living organisms already far beyond this stage of development.

I previously used 'the way', where that was implied.  I therefore clarified it for you

    No it's not.

Again yes it is.  Nothing can realise its full potential if it is not under the right conditions if we come to that.

She is under no obligation to provide it.

Nature does not care about obligations.

'The way' simply leaves more room for interpretation.  I should have been more precise.

Non sequester par exellance,  read your article.  I am not arguing that abortion is bad because it is unnatural.

I said a woman is under no obligation to provide an environment for a zygote to grow. Why did you bring up nature?

But you will admit that you can relate one more than you can relate to the other

I said a woman is under no obligation to provide an environment for a zygote to grow. Why did you bring up nature?

Because consequences and natural processes happen, regardless of whether one is obligated or not and because I think that a zygote should be allowed to realise its full potential if it doesn't endanger the mother's life.  Which is why I brought it up.

This argument is pointless as we have different opinions on the zygotes

ras11 as the blob of 4 cells still has no defined gender, you cant say that well it could be a woman and so both have the same rights... A woman should have control over her body, and have the ability to choose and control her reproduction...You, the pope, the imam can't tell a woman what she can or can't do with HER BODY!!!

Most men that are against abortions, are so because deep inside they are aware that they do not have the power of reproduction, and since the situation is like that, they want at least to control this power by not giving women the freedom to decide what she wants to do.....  voaaalaaa , this is one of the reasons of Patriarchy....

Just look at the sun and the moon, rotating around the earth perfectly! Out of all the never ending space in the universe, the sun and moon ended up close to earth rotating around it perfectly.!!

The freedom for a woman to choose in this context is one of the cornerstones of women's rights.
